Paid when I heard about it and I'm quite sure I could get another checking account. In fact, I've been with BofA since.
Not only one entry on my CR but I'm sure it's on chex.
Anyone with similar experiences and can tell me how it handled CCCU?

Reply:There are some banks who will accept you. People's Cash Solutions helped me out when I had no other choice. I am now in the process of getting a new account and plan to close that one.
Just remember to treat them like a CRA. From what I have read they can be very difficult to deal with and won't delete unless it is requested by the original bank. You may want to deal with them. I sent a big sob story to them and I got a deletion.

Reply:drat…ah well…

Reply:drat…ah well…

Reply: aarrrggghhh…even if it was paid?
Even if it was paid…

Reply:aarrrggghhh…even if it was paid?

Reply:If your in Chex, CCCU will decline you. I should know, they declined me for an account that was in chex that is 4.5 years old.

Reply:I just asked for my report from them online…not sure what is on there.

Reply:I don't know about CCCU. Have you tried getting the entry deleted from Chex?
I wrote a GW letter to Citizens bank. They didn't respond so I disputed the Chex entry again. It was deleted!
They also played my last check purchases
I used my card for the following items on the day after an online activating
Subscription game
topped from Ez Pass
Lunch at fast food
Parking in Phila Zoo
Lunch on Zoo.
Everything seems good now I could use the card for lunch.

Reply: Hey Manny… I see you're over on the Jersey side over in South Jersey.
When you got the card, you should have taken the SO out to lunch over at PF Chang's in Marton, NJ as your card's first purchase. Or a Starbucks.
When you get a new credit card, you have to make your first purchase an IN-PERSON transaction. Don't buy anything online with a new credit card, especially any online games. It looks like CapOne is now using the same first-purchase scoring that AMEX has been using.
This will also impact your ability to get CLIs on this card. Is this a CapOne with the "credit steps"?
Every morning I have a routine. I pull Credit Keeper and Credit Check Total then I check my checkign and credit card accounts. I'm not going to go someplace just to use the card. This is replacing my Orchard which I had to pay 4X a month to keep below 50% util (stupid 300 limit)
The game was my WOW subscription. Fast food shows up as Georgetown Associates.
And yes it is in the Credit Steps. It's the points card which I would prefer to be the cash back card.

Reply:Expect for Amex. Maybe the best place would be to use the card first is at one of these stores
Wal-mart
Target
Meijer
Kmart
However, if you get one of those reward cards. Your first purchase should be what type of reward card it is. For example, if it is auto reward. Use it for car repair first.

Reply:It's just a "security measure" based on typical patterns seen with criminal activity. That's all I am saying George.

Reply: The first purchase I usually do is there (test purchase)
FILL THE GAS CAN FOR THE LAWNMOWER or JUST TOP OFF ONE OF THE CARS
Unfortunately, that's also the SAME THING that is done when someone steals a credit card and wants to verify if it will work. When I worked 3rd shift at a drug store, open all night…the crackheads who had a stolen card would come in and charge a pack of gum. Once the transaction went through, they'd turn around and start pulling high ticket items off the shelf to buy. My cashiers were CLUELESS at first at this behavior. That's when I told them that in about 15 minutes, I can guarantee another 24-hour store manager will be calling to verify if the merchandise is ours because someone took it to the next store to get a cash refund.
The police say that most of the time the cards will get swiped at a gas station…but only if the thief had a car in the first place. Those who didn't just came to my store. LOLOL
…and my first purchase for GAS like 1/2 mile from my house PROVES WHAT???
THE CARD WAS STOLEN FROM MY LOCKED MAILBOX???

Reply:Cap1 was very conservative with my card when I first started using it. Kept freezing it and phoning me to verify my transactions (even for recurring bills). That lasted about 3 months while they figured out my "pattern" I guess.
Now they seem to be okay — charged a $1200 computer purchase last month, no problem.

Reply: Capital One used to routinely flag my overseas purchases.
Not deny them, but just leave a message for me to call and verify that they are legit.
Now I alert them before I leave.
One should probably do that anyway

Reply:THE "BANK" CAN'T POSSIBLY HAVE ON THE TOLL FREE CALL STICKER—>SEE BELOW
You can not use you card for a first purchase at these places of business…
1)
2)
3)
4)
5)
6)
7)

9)
…or your card will be cut off till you call us
THEY COULD NOT POSSIBLY ASK YOU WHEN THEY DO THE
HARD SELL ON CREDIT INSURANCE…"Where are you going to use your card at for your first purchase"

Reply: "IF" a bank has a "FEAR" of where you use your credit card…WHY DO THEY ALLOW CHARGES FROM THAT KIND OF BUSINESS???
The bank has no say over where the card is accepted. The bank issues a Visa card, it's up to Visa where the card is usable.
If that is case, they should not restrict where their customers can and can not use them period.
To me it's downright biased, based on preconceived notions or poorly executed inferential statistics.
What next? Sir, do you place yours to the right, left, down, or up?
Some have said that a FIRST PURCHASE of gas is a big RED FLAG
For almost 20 years I have lived like 1/2 mile from a gas station
The first purchase I usually do is there (test purchase)
FILL THE GAS CAN FOR THE LAWNMOWER or JUST TOP OFF ONE OF THE CARS

Reply:Hi – I'm pretty new to all this stuff – can someone please explain "first purchase modeling"…i think i get the gist of it, but have tried to search for more info and have had no luck! (or point me to threads that might explain it!)

Reply:"IF" a bank has a "FEAR" of where you use your credit card…WHY DO THEY ALLOW CHARGES FROM THAT KIND OF BUSINESS???

Reply:HOW you use your card says a lot about you…and the banks pay attention to what goes on it. Lots of threads here about where NOT to use a card.

Reply:It was probably the online game subscription that did it. Between myself, my wife and my kids, we have subscriptions to 3 different MMORPG's right now (WoW, LotR, and Toontown ) and about every third time I change billing credit cards I end up with a call from my new cards fraud department.

Reply:Have you heard of first purchasing models? read up on it a bit, it might stop this from happening again.

Best Answer: Your observations are short term observations at best. The world economy is cyclical. The cost/price spiral has been evident since The Richest Man in Babylon wandered the Earth.

About ethanol…it is expensive to produce.

America is the world's food basket. Just suppose we put a high tariff on all food being exported to the Middle East, China, Russia and Europe.

We then could pay price incentives corn growers to grow corn and biomass for cattle and ethanol production.

We would lower our dependence on foreign oil. We could use the income from our food crops to offset the cost of fuel and foreign oil.

We can, as do the Brazilians, power our cars with ethanol. We can use corn oil and other vegetable oils for diesel extenders.

Let's see if the Saudis and OPEC nations can eat the oil they pump and are holding us hostage for. Let's see if Russia, China and Europe can satisfy the Saudi appetite for the money from their oil. Bet they can't. China can't eat the toys covered with lead paint that they send to us very long. China keeps bidding up the cost for oil, let them pay for food as well.

Americans can overcome this problem if we just start to think out of the oil barrel.

Without American food the world goes hungry.

It is time for the world to pay us what food is worth in the cyclical world economy.

Reply:No to all of the above possibilities, no old, closed or MNBA CCs.
Honestly with all the $0.00 amounts it looks like someone goofed.
I did have a CO with BOFA many, many, sold moons ago…
Besides that would not have a zero balance I should think.
I will take your advice and call and tell you all.
I sure could use that new clear BOFA AMEX card for a BT. (knock on wood)
P.S. So good to be back, living without internet was akin to living in the woods.

Reply:
Hello,
Signed onto my BofA online accounts today. Another first.
I have two reinserts that my Credit reports are listing as recent dates instead of six years ago that I need to clear up first before I can apply for any cards.
The BofA website is funky with my accounts too. In addition to the 2 FIA cards (not accessed on the BofA site) I have 3 personal cards and 1 biz. However the site shows 2 biz cards with the 3 personal – both biz cards show the same CL. They each have 4 different last numbers. Their response is I have only 1 biz card and they do not know why 2 should be showing. The cannot pull up the additional card without all the account numbers. Weird, very weird…
I still think they have some issues to work out….I consolidated an account with another BOA card, and the consolidated acct shows up with the new available CL, and the 'supposed closed acct is still open also with the original CL available..

Reply:OVER-DRAFT COULD HAVE AN ACCOUNT NUMBER
OLD MBNA CARDS???

Reply:BoA has also been known to open cards without your permission.
Call them and ask about it.
I have not had any accounts with B of A for almost 10 years, but now when I login to my MBNA card i see an old, closed line of credit I had in the mid 90's.

Reply:This happened to me last week, but the accounts that showed up were ones I applied for back in Aug and Sep 06 and denied on both. One day they show up in my accounts on the BoA online banking site with great CLIs. I was suspect so I called BoA and the CSR did some checking and came back and said the cards were now approved and I should receive them in about 5 – 7 days. I said thanks for you help and have a great Thanksgiving. I received the WorldPoints MC on Friday, 24 Nov. So I guess they do keep your apps on file and review them periodically.
Below my checking and savings account is a CC account listed as Bofa credit card and most strangely along side the listing are the last four numbers of the account.
I left out that I do not have a credit card with Bof A.
Odd? or normal BofA practice? as if the credit card already exists for me. I opened it up and next to all the amounts is $0.00 available. $0.00 credit limit $0.00 owed, ect.
Ever happen to you?
Is it wrong for them to be placing bogus accounts?
I also saw a pop up for the reward amex card. Another first.
I have two reinserts that my Credit reports are listing as recent dates instead of six years ago for I need to clear up first before I can apply for any cards.
HUHHH???
ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT CLOSED ACCOUNTS???
I HAVE 3 OLD CLOSED ACCOUNTS THAT ARE SHOWING UP ON THE PAYMENT WEB LINK
I DON'T HAVE AN ISSUE WITH IT

Reply: I get a lot of calls on my id from "unknown caller" , Out of area, and toll free service. Will it block these?
I use Phone Tray Free….a software installed on the computer that uses the modem to block the calls and even gives them a .mp3 message. There are some previously recorded messages, including "does not take called from blocked numbers", something to fake them out….like giving them a message that this is an invalid number or disconnected number , etc. You can even make your own .mp3 message that they will hear when they call….as long as you have their number in there to zap.

Reply: I get a lot of calls on my id from "unknown caller" , Out of area, and toll free service. Will it block these?
Use Blow Horn as call blocker

Reply:Have you checked with your phone company to see if they have Call Intercept? I have it and it works great. I was getting up to 30 calls a day from my ex-BF's creditors.

Reply: I get a lot of calls on my id from "unknown caller" , Out of area, and toll free service. Will it block these?
I don't know about blocking these, but telemarketing calls are way down..
Do they currently respond to DV or pay delete.
They tell me 90 + days late 13 times in a row (consecutive months) to 2 offices and recharge me about 620 fico TU perfect
on
im otherwise they report as a collection, but on other 2 to its open and 120 days later, every damn month, keep killing me.
I know they r injured right as reporting it, just not sure what to do to send my inital thoughts on this today:
Your Name
Date
Re: Account # xxxxx5
Dear CA,
I dispute your claims in their entirety and request validation by the FDCPA.
Sincerely, I guess
Joe Consumer
but what I ask is I will only address the open account and the type of acct to incorrectly report, and based the demand for cancellation of such violations? or just want to top dv.
Thanks

Reply: I get a notice from Asset every once in a while. They say I owe money for an account that is not even on my CR's. It is way past SOL, and was transferred from MBNA to Asset to Jefferson Capital Systems, whoever they are. They've offered me one of those "second chance" Visa cards that they will transfer the balance of "my" account to, and allow me to make payments. The only problem? The account's not mine. Never was. I have asked Asset time and time and time and time again to PLEASE send me some documentation of the debt and if it was determined to be mine, I would gladly set something up to take care of it. They have failed to validate anything 30+ times, and will not stop hassling me about it. Oh well, as stated it is not on my CR's so I could care less. Screw Asset!
they'll respond to a summons

Reply:I just noticed while reading your post that Asset is also reporting my account as being open! I never noticed that before. I'm going to take the advice in this post and contact the CRA. I've dv'd them (asset) several times and no response.
Paper trail paper trail….

Reply: you could address their illegal reporting if you'd like in your DV
something like this:
http://{$MySite}/forums/index.php?s…182&hl=open
then, when they ignore you and verify with the CRAs, you can then file your complaints with BBB, AGs, FTC, etc…as well as suit
as for it being quicker to get the points back…you're proceeding from the mistaken assumption that they'll mark it as paid….they likely won't…or they won't for 6 months or so….
Pryan is right… (hi Pryan)
But go ahead and fire off the letter to cra disputing how the account is being listed.

Reply:Sorry if I was a bit harsh, I just don't want another Cb'er to have the same year as I had. I was right slam in the middle of getting a mortgage, and had been dealing w/Asshead since 2004.
If you want, you can pm me, and I will share with you how to tackle this. I have a fat file folder full letters, and green cards.
Your next dispute needs to be to the cra. You need to dispute this acct being listed as OPEN. Stay on the cra's as you would Asset.
I had the BBB FTC, and several its letters for one acct, before the cra's finally deleted.
Again, I apologize. I'm on your side

Reply:I have read the boaard for years and take mild offense to your answer…hehehe
Obviously I have ready much and have learned tons from creditboards
We have all successfully beat some CA's
What I am saying is my catch 22 is this- because they report it open its affecting me MUCH more than it should and is being treated like a credit card balance,
.
I hear what you say about trusting them to mark it paid.
I sent simple dv#1…. and Im documenting their reply
BUT my question was more along the lines of is it too early to cite the violations
should i send the very simple dv letter as above or go for throat and cite the exact violations now?
or do i have to wait til after they reply to dv #2

Reply:Hi,
There is no "quick fix" when dealing with credit scores. If you pay Asset, you are digging a 6 foot grave. You need to consider working on a solid paper trail with these folks. Please take some time and read the threads regarding their shady practices before you start brainstorming on a way to increase your score "through" Asset.
There are several CB'ers (myself included) who have successfully removed Asset. I am currently working on another, but paying and hoping they'll report it paid, and hoping for the score jump is wishful thinking. (imho)
Good Luck.

Reply: I agree with Marcus.
AU's are NOT illegal. Any suggestion otherwise is NOT correct. The moral and ethical question of using non family members accounts to piggy back is a valid question. To get someone started in credit, AU can be a good thing.
But all will be a moot point someday when the majority of lenders use FICO 08. AU's won't be counted anymore.
But for now, they do and are perfectly legal.
Fair Isaac has decided that it will be including AUs in Fico08 after all. It put out a press release on July 31 saying that it decided not to axe AUs. They say that they are creating the model so that it screens out those who shouldn't be legit AUs, though.
Not sure how that will work, but I'm all for it…
Maybe they will only figure in AU's that have the same address of the account listed on file.
So, John's wife will have her AU account figured in because they both have the same address listed on file, but Bob's CR won't figure it in because he doesn't live (or hasn't lived) at the same address. Just a thought …
Hopefully the same last name will be considered as well. I'd rather keep my parent's aged accounts on my file

Reply: How can someone become an Au in order to piggyback? are their companies that offer this and is it legal?
There are companies that offer that service, but I'm not real sure how legal that is.
It isn't legal. Unfortunately none of them would describe how that would work (probably for legal reasons they can't).
anyone dealt with something similar to this. I really don't have 1500+ for a lawyer and my case seems like it should be really simple other than this one issue. (I don't have anything)
thanks,
r

Reply:Farm machinery, team & food for 60 days; professional furniture, books, & instruments to $600 total
N.Y. CPLR § 5205 (a),(B)
You sure the sax is worth more than $600? I'd assume that's the angle the lawyers were hinting at. What would it sell for if you had to sell it today?
Do you earn a living with it?

Reply:The sax could sell easily on ebay for $2500. I also don't earn much money with it, though there are lots of press reviews and such about my music.

Best Answer: i doubt that they are the same but the easy way is to call and find out!!!!

Reply:Thank you for your responses, but it may be a MUTE point. The home we were looking to buy is a New Construction loan and I don't qualify for that because of my BK. The lender is seeing what else is out there that he can work up, but I don't plan to leave my current home for an outrageous mortgage. I don't want to "struggle" for two and a half more years until I am 4 years post BK – then refi.
I believe we can still get a loan for another home, just not the new construction we were looking at. I am also inquiring about the model home – wondering if it is for sale, the price and is it considered "NEW construction" or a resale.
I'm a little disappointed but hey, my current home is beautiful and I am not pressured to leave.
Thanks ya'll
P.S. My current mortgage is with Countrywide and so far they've been wonderful. Prior to our refi, we were with Wells Fargo and they were great too!!!

Reply:top notch lender. i know people who use them.
no problems
a lender i have considered getting to know better, but i am pretty comfortable with what i have

Reply:National City is my preferred Construction to permanent lender right now to take clients to. There rates and service are much better than some of the other banks I use to broker to. They are a large firm with many different department and handle most kinds of lending both retail and wholesale to brokers. Hope that helps!

Reply:Our first home was through National City Mortgage. We had no problems from them at all. We even once were reported as 30 days late in error and they promptly fixed it and re-reported the information.

Reply:
Anyone ever heard of them? What has been your experience??? Builder uses them and while they offer great incentives, one of the special financing is that you use them and get either 3 points off the life of the loan or get a 2/1 buydown. I've read the information on that being illegal… howver if they are a good and have good rates, I'll use them.
Also can someone tell me…
Loan at 375000k
rate at 5.875% on a 30 year interest only for 10 years….
Is it better to do the buy down or the points to get the lowest payment. Thanks
Oh, and all things being equal….
yearly taxes at 3500 and insurance at 800
Charles County, MD
No PMI
Middle score 662
I have a hard time believing an A paper client can get a 5.875% rate on a 30-year IO with zero points, let alone someone less than two years out of BK. I'm not convinced you've been given proper information.
800s
Ooh Good catch!!!! MY hat comes off to you!!! HE does not know about BK as we are in prelim talking stages. However, by the time we close on the home (IF WE MOVE FORWARD), the BK will be 2 years old. Thoughts/comments… but don't stress cause we may have hit a huge bump and may not be ABLE to move forward.

Reply:I have an investment property loan with them for the past 24 months. It is a 5 year interest only ARM. I setup automatic draft the second month that I have had the loan. I have had no problems with them. They usually report year end tax information prior to my many other mortgages. You can access your account online. BTW my property and I am in Georgia.
They are a subsidary of National City Bank.
When looking at buying down the rate to get a lower payment, you should take into account a few things. How long will I be in the house? FOREVER…. NOT MOVING ANY MORE.
What is the lieklihood of a refinance in the near future (unforseen emergencies). NO REFINANCING UNTIL WE GET AT LEAST 250K IN EQUITY
If you are going to be in the house for awhile then it is not a bad idea. You could also, put that money down and borrow less. Also, do some rate shopping..Ask a few lenders what the rates would be based on your characteristics (Donn't let them pull credit)..In the end if you feel comfortable..go for it..
tHANIKS
As I posted before, I decided to wait until the new laws because of my job and because I couldn't afford a lawyer. I am also placing once more heart felt attempt to settle my car accident so I won't have to file but that is looking more and more grim. If nothing else, I might get a couple thousand to use for a lawyer lol. Anyway, the job issue may be looking up as there could be a new contract where finances aren't even looked at. I should know soon. Just having that would lift a great weight off. Cross fingers and toes for me.
Anyway…as I ramble on…. I would love for any feedback from those of you who are filing under the new law so I can have an idea what to expect. I am under the median so I'm not worried about that. I'm just scared and wanting to know what to expect once I change jobs and can afford to file. I'm just one lawsuit away from hiring a lawyer anyway. Thanks a much everyone. This site is great.

Best Answer: First you need to understand that they are not required to obtain your signature on a certified letter. They sent it, it does not matter if you accepted it or not, they met the requirement.

Having children has nothing to do with your mortgage arrangements. Almost all families eventually have kids, there is no "free house" pass for popping out a kid.

At this point in time the better business bureau has yet to find a legitimate negotiation company, you are still on your own. (I checked this morning)

You need to find out if your house was auctioned, it is was you have 30 days to pack up. Hire movers with all that money you have not been paying the mortgage company.
